Milestones!!

We look forward to the milestones in our children's lives. When they first smile, take their first steps, start on solid foods, go to the bathroom by themselves. After having three children, the milestones, don't seem as important with the last child as they do with the first. Of course it is still important and you are proud of your child for their accomplishment, but the fizzle seems to wear off a bit.

Every night I have the same routine, dinner, bath and bed. With Savannah the bed time varies depending on the last bottle and how much mommy time the other kids need. So the other night, I laid her in her bed with her pacifier while I read the Ryan and Aleesia a bedtime story. I was expecting to get through one book before Savannah would need my attention again. So I was surprised when after 3 books I hadn't heard her. I kissed Ryan and Aleesia and then went to check in on Savannah. She was knocked out. I was so surprised. Usually she has to be held to fall asleep. She has reached her first milestone and I'm so happy about that. It gives me a little more time with the other guys for the bedtime routine.

We've had a lot of milestones here in the past few weeks. Savannah falling asleep by herself. Ryan is walking and Aleesia is learning to dress herself. She has the pants, underwear, and socks. Now we have to get the shirt and shoe thing down. Aleesia is starting to get so independent, it's hard to help her with some of these things when we are in a rush to get out of the house.

I am so proud of my little monsters....can't wait for the next milestone.

Scheduling

I think I've finally got it down. Kids have really made me be the morning person I don't want to be. The problem I have is that I get up at the same time as them instead of before they do. I think that will come in time, once Savannah is sleeping through the night. I am trying to incorporate some learning in our daily activities to get Aleesia ready for school and get Ryan talking. He is such a sweet boy, and he really loves his sisters. I can't wait to see what kind of man he turns out to be.

Losing Weight

Trying to lose weight after having three babies is not easy. I have lost 2lbs this first week and am hoping to lose more next week. I need to get on the ball with this working out stuff. Hopefully I will be able to be down 20lbs by the spring. That is my goal anyway. If you know of any healthy recipes that are delicious and low fat, let me know.

Why Bother!!

So my cleaning schedule has become every other day instead of just maybe twice a week as it used to be. I don't know why I bother to clean it at all though because five minutes later it is all destroyed. But I have been trying something new. Since my three year old is now using the potty all by herself, I have switched to cleaning the bathroom she uses with vinegar and warm water instead of chemicals. The main reason I started doing that is because she sucks her fingers and they go in her mouth constantly. I was afraid of her to use the bathroom right after I had cleaned and accidentally ingesting 409. Also she is able to help me clean, which she is so very eager to do at this age. I don't have to worry about harsh chemicals on her hand. I have recorded her asking and doing the chores now, so that when she is 16 and says I hate cleaning the bathroom, I can show her how much she used to LOOOOOVE to clean the bathroom. Right now, I will take all the help I can get.

Hang in there

So my kids have this barn that they play with. My daughter uses it as a step stool to get those things just out of her reach. I try desparately to discourage this activity, but I don't have eyes in the room 24/7. So the other day, my S.O. and I were sitting in our room watching a movie, while the kids were doing the same in their room. My daughter stepped up on the barn to turn up the volume on the T.V. I didn't stop her since, I could see her and wasn't too concerned. I turned my head back to the movie, I was watching and then heard, "HELP"!!! I turned to find her hanging on the entertainment center. As daddy ran in to save her, I couldn't help but laugh. I wanted to yell at her because this was the very reason why I didn't want her standing on the barn, but it was so funny to see her hanging there, I couldn't help but bust out in laughter. She got upset with me for laughing at her, but the other option was to have me yell at her and I know she didn't want that. I am glad that she is taking gymnastics because if not, she may have fallen and hurt herself. I wish I had the camera so I could have taken a picture of it. But instead I will leave you with a picture of her "hanging" out at gymnastics.

Things I've Learned in 2010

So 2010 was a very fast year it seems to me. My father always told me that once you get out of high school, time flies. I can see that now. Having three kids can really make you examine the world around you and try to find the greater good. So with that in mind, here are the things that I have learned over the past year.

  1. I can make a bottle in my sleep. Pour the water, measure the formula...I can do it without looking.
  2. There isn't any hand soap or lotion on the face of this earth that is going to make your hands soft when you have to wash them 4 million times a day.
  3. When one gets sick, we're all getting sick.
  4. Staying at a hotel for a 2 year old is the greatest thing.
  5. No two kids are alike no matter how you try to compare them. They may have similarities, but they are not the same.
  6. Stain removers are my new best friends.
  7. The laundry will never be done!
  8. It's the simple things that really make life easier.
  9. I'm going to have to get a minivan(not my style).
  10. I finally understand why my mom calls the bathroom her library. It's the only place in the house where you can be alone and no one is really going to bother you too much. It's quiet and you can find a sense of peace there. Even if it is for just a few minutes.

So with this new year comes new ideas and new adventures. I'm going to try better with my blogging. Every night I lay down and have 100s of things to say on here, but just don't have the energy to get to the computer to put them all down. That will change. I'm going to try and post every day, we'll see how it works out!!
